Yesterday's News

Not much happened yesterday. The Phillies lowered there magic number to one. The Dodgers are on a three game loosing streak. There magic number to clinch the West is still at one. The Rockies one extending the wild card lead to three games over the Braves. The Tigers took a slit on the double header. There lead is still at 2 but the race is still close.

The Angels and NL Awards

Yesterday, the big story was about the Angels. They clinched the Al West division. At the end of the game they did a small ceremony type thing to remember Nick Adenhart. The Tigers Twins game was postponed due to rain.
It looks like Albert Pujols will win MVP. He has hit 47 home runs, 132 rbi’s, batting .328, and scored 121 times, has 181 assists, and shockingly stole 15 bases. It that doesn’t make him the most likely player to win it than nothing will.
There are 3 potentiol candidates for the NL Cy Young Award. Chris Carpenter, Adam Wainwright, and Tim Lincecum are the only players with a shot. Tim Lincecum I think has the least shot. He is only 14 and 7 with a 2.47 era. He has thrown 4 complete games, two of which were shutouts. I think it will be between the two Cardinal aces Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter. Adam Wainwright leads the league in wins with 19 but has lost 8 games. His era is 2.58 but has only thrown one complete game. Last but not least there is Chris Carpenter. He is 16 and 4. Amazingly le leads the league in era with 2.30. He has thrown only 3 complete games and one shutout. He also missed almost two months of the season. Imagine were he would be if he didn’t miss those two months.

The Weekend

The weekend was busy. The Dodgers became the second team to clinch a playoff spot. The Cardinals became the first team to clinch there division the (NL Central). They became the third team to clinch a playoff seat. Sunday the Yankees became the second team to clinch the division behind the Cardinals. The Dodgers still sit one win away from clinching the NL West. The Angels now sit with a magic number of two. The Phillies are close with a magic number of three. The Twins won on a Tiger loss shrinking the lead to two games. I think that game will come down to the series against each other starting today.

Yesterday

The Cardinals lost last night 3-0 to the Astros. The Cubs lost so there magic number fell to 1. They will probably clinch there spot on day against Colorado. The Tigers won holding the lead to 2.5. The Twins won so the Tigers did not gain much ground. There magic number fell to 9 though. The Phillies lost to the Marlins. There magic number is still sitting still at 5. The Nationals beat the Dodgers so there are still waiting to clinch to playoff. The Giants kept there Wild Card dream alive capitalizing on a Colorado loss. That is all that happened yesterday in baseball.

Current standings

As you probably know the Yankees clinched a playoff spot yesterday on there win. They are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. It could be the Wild Card if they start loosing but probably not. Yesterday the Tigers got a much needed win. The Twins won too keeping the lead to 2.5 games. There schedules are about the same. I think it will come down to the 3 game series against each other on the 28th of September to the 1st of October. The Cardinals won 10-2 lowering there magic number to 2. The giants lost on a Colorado win. It is going to be very hard for the Giants to take the wild card. There only hope is if the Cardinals sweep the Rockies. The Cardinals might take the series but probably will not sweep them.
The Phillies won one game yesterday on the double header against the Marlins. There magic number has lowered and is now at 5. The Angels lost to the New York Yankees yesterday but there magic number still stands at 5. The Dodgers crushed the Nationals 14-2. There playoff magic number stands at 2 but the west magic number sits at 7. That is where I feel the playoff stands now.

Postseason outcome

Most of the layoff races are already decided. A couple might still change though. The Cardinals have a 10 game lead. There magic number is down to 3. That means 3 Cardinal wins or 3 Cub losses or the combination guaranties them a spot in the postseason. The Yankees have a 5 game lead on the Red Sox. Even if the Red Sox’s pass the Yankees they have the Wild Card for protection. The Red Sox have a 7 game lead in the wild card which almost guarantees them to make it. The Angels have a 7.5 game lead over the rangers so the outcome will be about like the Red Sox.
The Phillies have an 8 game lead over the Braves and Marlins. There magic number should start getting small in a couple of days. The Dodgers have only a 5 game lead. They have won 7 of there last ten though. It would be hard for the Rockies to catch them. Even if they do there is the wild card protection.
The NL wild card race could still change. They are only separated by 4 games. The Rockies have a much harder schedule than the Giants. It is 4 games but a lot could change. The AL central is very close. The Tigers have the Twins by 2.5 games. The Twins have been hot while the Tigers are slumping. If the Tigers don’t start winning now this could change soon. That clearly states how the postseason will probably start.

Who will win the World Series

I see one person answered my poll. I agree with the one answer. The St. Louis Cardinals have been on a hot streak since aquiring Matt Holliday. They have the best record in baseball since he arrived in St. Louis. The Cardinals have the most likely MVP Award winner, Albert Pujols. He is the best player in the game now. 47 home runs, 127 RBI's and a .333 batting average. That is outstanding. They also have two players competing for the CY Young award. Chris Carpenter is 15 and four. His ERA is below 2.5. That is incredible. He also missed two months, imagine where he would be if he didn't. Adam Wainright is 18 and 7. He has the most wins in baseball at this point. His ERA is about 2.5 too. That is incredible. That clearly states why the Cardinals would win the World Series if it started now.

Introduction

Hey, this is FTBaseball and I have some amazing stuff to talk about. I will cover most baseball records like when Derek Jeter became the all time hits leader for the New York Yankees. I will give information on the postseason chances for the division leaders. I will talk about the poll results and why it could be any of the answers. There is much more amazing stuff but you have to read it to find out.

This is an amazing blog. You will get some information a lot faster than on other websites. During to off-season there is a lot more to talk about. It will not be the same as during the regular season though. There will be articles on trades that take place. I will give proof that steroids are ruining the game. Plus, much more that you will learn about later. For anything involving baseball come to FTBaseball.
